Drainage Planning

Effective drainage planning is a critical component of development on municipal, commercial, agricultural and residential properties. AAE is experienced in leading all stages of drainage planning, from data collection to mitigation planning to regulatory approvals. Our Trimble RTK ground survey system and eBee Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) allow us to produce highly accurate and detailed topographic maps and models, while our expertise in hydrology and engineering give us the ability to generate effective drainage solutions that meet all municipal, provincial and federal requirements.

Representative Projects

Preliminary Drainage Plan for Amsted Rail Company Inc.

AAE was contracted by Amsted Rail Company Inc. to carry out a detailed topographic survey and drainage assessment and to develop a drainage plan for a property in Winnipeg, Manitoba. AAE provided the client with topographic maps and data, a drainage plan meeting all regulatory guidelines and standard design criteria, additional recommendations for improvements and a cost estimate for all proposed works.

BroadGrain Grain Terminal at CentrePort Preliminary Drainage Plan

AAE developed a drainage plan prior to construction of a grain terminal at CentrePort. The project consisted of a detailed topographic survey, an analysis of pre- and post-development runoff conditions under varying storm events, design of ponds and ditches to contain excess runoff on the site, and measures to mitigate erosion and sediment transport during construction. The drainage plan was designed to meet municipal drainage guidelines as well as drainage plan requirements for Manitoba Infrastructure and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.

Skownan First Nation Flood Management Survey

AAE completed a flood management survey of the Skownan Reserve. The study was initiated to obtain baseline data and to assess the existing infrastructure and drainage within Skownan Reserve. The results facilitated a complete hydrologic-hydraulic assessment in Phase II of the project and development of recommendations to reduce the impact of flooding on the reserve.
